Is it possible to convert old maps into the new 2020 version?

It is not, as most of the old Stadium blocks don't seem to exist in this game. Although I guess they could eventually be made as custom blocks.

most old stadium blocks can be recreated with the new blocks.
blue border can be exchanged with the new concrete/grass combo blocks and you can raise road in freeblock mode to have the height difference again.
floortits can be made with the 1/4 circle in the top folder of the concrete foldertree
did a bessy remake, worked like a charm.
