I disagree here. At least from my experience, the topic in a typical "general" channel is likely to change quickly by someone else writing about something new. Threaded conversations havent helped this issue. In a forum, you get all the conversations listed by activity and topic, I love it! But seems noone else does Im really a TM boomer I guess.

It indeed is a lot harder to stay in topic in discord. You have to select between keeping natural flow in discussion and going offtopic, or staying in topic but awkwardly moving to another channel related to it. Discussion itself is neat imo, but finding announcements etc is al ot harder compared to forum posts imo.
