Track of the day  
Hey guys, I just want to have some thoughts and other opinions about track of the day.

Because im bit tilted about the tracks they choose and which they dont choose.

So most of the tracks had rly poor quality either in terms of pure route or scenery.
Dont get me wrong, some maps had real quality and are well calculated, look at paulmars track.

Yeah, i know nadeo wants to show what theyve got and what the game is capable of.
But do they even look at some tracks before they make them track of the day?
Half of the tracks had obvious cuts, some are very bad in terms of flow and a lot of tracks feel like being build in 30 mins without much love.

Why am I tilted?
I spent a lot of time on the review server. And i have seen very very bad maps. Like you wont belive me how bad a map can be kind of maps.
On the other hand, i have seen really beautiful maps, great flow, great scenery and none got track of the day.

Yes a lot of people are new to the game. And i understand, you cannot give them hardcore transitional tech or speedmaps.

But most of the maps are just boring to drive to me. Is that because i got 13 years experience of driving? I doubt it, in my opinion they are to simple, no real challenge, not even for hunting.

I repeat, not all of the seen totd are bad, but most of them until yet.

Like a map with not enough Checkpoints which leads to a cutable part is a beginner mistake. To me a map with a cut doesnt make fun to hunt anymore.

I played todays totd 3 times with different updates on the review server and i new this track will be totd. Not because of the track, which received very good improvments and become driveable in this version from complete randomness.
But because of the theme, scenery and the custom blocks.
Because it looks fantastic, and it became driveable and makes fun, i consider this track good.
For TMX standards, this track would be below average.

Am I a bit overreacting or are here some others with similar thoughts?

Well, I am a bit disapointed that totd's are mostly boring envimix, some of them are really fun to drive and that's the problem : SOME of them.(And they're usually not envimix, just well themed like grass/road, dirt/road, Ice/dirt)
I feel like Nadeo really wants to push envimix as the main style of the game but... Well populated servers have well defined styles :|

True that. It seems TOTD is picked from the ingame review system and there is a wide range of mapper (and driver) skill there, from beginner to expert. Rating based on flow, feeling, smoothness, etc. is hard, rating based on looks is easy. Hopefully the review system will be improved (more time, more rating options), then it should give better results.

So probably TOTD is meant to show off the game to beginners, not to replace the dedicated tech/fs/lol servers. At least it's a refreshing alternative.
 
2 years later, how do you feel now?

To me it improved a lot.
The map quality has risen for sure, but 2 years in it should be :)

Still, i was dissapointed that nadeo had no structure to select good maps at that time.
 
It was all very new back then. Glad to hear you think it improved.
