Jafaf (جفاف), which means "drought", is a fictional village situated along the Nile river. Once rife with fauna and flora due to its geographic situation, it suffered from a drought period due to climate change, which slowly transformed the location into a ghost town. Explore the small valley and its secluded housing or visit the main street situated on the highest dune.
I always try to do something different for my CCP tracks to create some diversity, as I personally think there are (too?) many transitional FS tracks that come out during that period of time. This time, I wanted to go slightly further by trying to bring winter to a location that would typically not be associated with it. This year, Christmas also feels a bit different due to the global pandemic, and it feels more lonely than other years, at least to me. Those two reasons motivated me to create a desert ghost town which is devoid of any life at the most festive time of the year to mimic the world's situation this year.
The route itself isn't anything special in my opinion other than being a good route for both hunting and casual play, as it has interesting gears to manage and tricks to go faster. It's definitely geared towards analog players, but hey, some maps are like that and I apologize to all keyboard players out there.
You probably won't think this is the best entry of this CCP project (and I don't think it will be either), but it is a project which is a representation of my current state of mind and which definitely makes me proud. It is definitely more atmospheric than other creations would be, but I think it aligns with what I released last year on valley.
Either way, that was a long author comment section, so I'll leave you with the map. I've been contemplating whether I should retire from mapping and Trackmania as we get to 2021 – though, to be fair, can one really "retire" from TM? – but we'll see how it goes. I might be there, I might not, and this might be my last map, maybe not.
