If you want to have your times saved, then you need to purchase it. If you just want to play and have no pb you can access the map in split screen or hotlap mode in local multiplayer

I few youtube videos indicated that i could play custom maps by just dwnloading instead of just purchasing the club membership. Does this mean even to play downloaded maps I have to purchase the club accwss for a year?

I'm not used to the free pack, but I could image that nadeo does not let you play downloaded maps, because you could download any map you want, including the other campaign maps and totd maps. Where did you saw that you can play any map from this...
